Professor Cheng, Man-Ch’ing was born in 1901 in China. Since the youth, he was re-known of his talent and proficiency in Chinese literature, poetry and art.

At the age of 19 he was invited to the post of professor to teach poetry in Yu-Wen University, Beijing. At the age of 24, he was hired to teach Chinese painting in Shan-Hai Professional Art School.

Motivated by serious personal health difficulties, Professor Cheng learned Taichi Chuan from renowned Yang, Chen-Pu who later shared all the Yang Style inner secretes with him in appreciation of Cheng, Man-Ch’ing’s medical treatment which healed Yang Chen-Pu’s wife.

To make Taichi Chuan more accessible to general population, Professor Cheng simplified the Yang Style from 108 to 37 moves.

In 1949 , Professor Cheng founded Shr-Jung School in Taipei, Taiwan to teach and promote his 37 move Taichi Chuan short forms. The fruit of his efforts, the 37 posture form has become one of the most popular Taichi Chuan forms throughout the world.
